This 3-night itinerary explores the beautiful and lesser-visited region between Madrid and the Mediterranean, offering a rewarding blend of Moorish castles, dramatic landscapes, wide open plains and charming historic towns.

It is ideal for guests who enjoy scenic driving, authentic Spain away from the main tourist flow, and the memorable experience of staying in striking Parador properties — including one of Spain’s most iconic castle Paradors and a newly opened addition to the Parador collection.

General Conditions

Route available from January to June and September to December 2026.
The stay starts on Sunday.
Subject to availability
Neither dates of the stay nor the establishments can be varied or modified during the route.
This route and rate are not valid for groups.
A credit card will always be required as a guarantee of the reservation.

Cancellations and appearance

The price of the first night of the route shall be the cancellation fee charged for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the day of arrival.
Cancellations made during the route shall not be entitled to any refund of the price paid.
No appearance: If the guest does not appear on the first day of the route, it will imply the cancellation of the complete route and the payment of the first night as a cancellation fee. Taxes included.

The route includes

A 3-night stay in a standard double room on the chosen basis (bed and breakfast or half board).

The route does not include

Transport shall be at the expense of the guests, as will the tours and access to monuments or places of interest (the information offered is of a merely indicative nature).

Itinerary

Day 1

Your journey begins with a truly spectacular stay at the Parador de Sigüenza, one of the most emblematic and impressive Paradors in Spain. Approaching the castle, perched above the town, is an experience in itself — and it’s the perfect introduction to the rich history of this region.

Sigüenza also makes an excellent base for exploring nearby UNESCO-listed cities. Depending on your arrival timing, you may wish to visit:
Segovia, famed for its extraordinary Roman aqueduct, elegant Plaza Mayor, and the enchanting Alcázar, often said to have inspired Disney’s Cinderella castle
Alcalá de Henares, birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, with its historic university and the Cervantes House Museum

On the drive to Sigüenza, a rewarding stop can be made in Guadalajara, or the charming hilltop town of Medinaceli, known for its rich architectural heritage, including its ducal palace, museum, and remarkable triple Roman arch, reflecting the area’s Christian, Jewish and Muslim influence.

Day 2

The second day takes you deeper into Spain’s scenic backcountry, travelling through rolling landscapes towards the historic town of Molina de Aragón, famous for its commanding castle.

Here you will stay at the Parador de Molina de Aragón, which opened in 2025, making it one of the newest additions to the Parador collection. The property enjoys wonderful views towards the castle and surrounding countryside, and offers an ideal opportunity to slow down and appreciate this lesser-explored part of Spain.

A highlight of the stay is time spent on the panoramic terrace, where you can enjoy the views and the peaceful atmosphere that makes this route so special.

Day 3

En route to Teruel, just under an hour from Molina de Aragón, we strongly recommend a stop in Albarracín — one of Spain’s most beautiful medieval towns and officially declared a National Monument.

With its ancient city walls climbing the hillside, terracotta rooftops, and cathedral rising above the town, Albarracín feels timeless. It is surrounded by the striking landscapes of the nearby Sierra, offering hidden hermitages, caves with prehistoric paintings, waterfalls and lovely walking trails. The town is particularly magical at dusk when it becomes beautifully illuminated.

You then continue to Teruel, a historic city famous for its remarkable Mudéjar architecture, including its cathedral tower and striking old quarter. The city is also associated with the romantic legend of the “Lovers of Teruel”, whose united tombs in the Church of San Pedro are one of the town’s most visited attractions.

Teruel is also well known for its exceptional Jamón Serrano — a must-try during your stay.

Optional recommendation (departure day):
If time allows when leaving Teruel, consider a stop in Cuenca, another architectural gem renowned for its famous hanging houses built into the rocky gorge. A short visit is well worth it for the scenery and atmosphere.
