New Parador de Molina de Aragón: A Gateway to Castilla-La Mancha’s Hidden Gems

Spain’s state-run network of historic and cultural hotels, Paradores, is set to open its 99th establishment, the Parador de Molina de Aragón, by the end of 2024. This new addition will become the 10th Parador in Castilla-La Mancha, reinforcing the network’s commitment to supporting and showcasing Spain’s lesser-known rural areas.

A Blend of History and Modern Comfort

The Parador de Molina de Aragón is located on a 26,000 square meter site in the upper area of the city, offering panoramic views of the iconic Molina de los Caballeros walled fortress. The contemporary-style building, spread across two floors, features 24 rooms, including two suites, a wellness center with a spa, a reception area, a café, and versatile event spaces. The design incorporates stone as the principal material, blending seamlessly with the castle walls and the traditional architecture of the region.

Gastronomic Delights and Local Specialties

In line with Paradores’ gastronomic tradition, the Parador will have a restaurant that celebrates the region’s culinary diversity, serving local specialties such as roasted lamb and river trout. Guests can enjoy these dishes while taking in the beautiful surroundings, enhancing their overall experience.

Boosting Local Economy and Sustainable Tourism

The Parador represents a €20 million investment and is expected to create 22 jobs immediately, contributing to the local economy. This initiative aligns with Paradores’ mission to promote responsible and sustainable tourism in Spain’s less-explored regions, attracting more visitors and driving revenue into local businesses.

Discovering Castilla-La Mancha

Molina de Aragón, just a two-hour drive from Madrid, boasts a rich medieval history influenced by Celtic, Moorish, and Christian cultures. It serves as a vital stop for walkers tracing the Way of El Cid, the legendary journey of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar through Spain. Visitors can explore its Romanesque churches, Gothic convents, and historical quarters, with the nearby Alto Tajo Natural Park offering hiking and birdwatching opportunities.
